The Computer Age. Poem by Steven Harris

The Computer Age.

The modern way of writing
using a computer
the computer screen has taken over
your judged if you don't use one
poeple today dont write songs on paper
they dont write poems on paper
they dont write tales on paper
it's all done with the tap of a key on a keypad.

The old way of writing is gone
gone and put into the hands of the computer
turned over to beeping noises and spell checks
turned over to funny noises and flashing lights
everything now is done using a phone or a computer
and i'm doing the same thing right now
taping away on a keypad
writing my displeasure of computers
i've joined the group of the computer age
i click on start
wait for it to load
click open
write and save
i've joined them.

Yes i'm young i know
but i like the old way of doing things
sitting with a blank page
holding a black pen in my head
and seeing what comes out
i dont need to turn things on
i dont need to put a password in
i dont need to wait till it loads
with a pen and paper you just get on with it
now i have to wait
now i have to load everything
click on start
click on word
and tap and tap and tap away
save and upload.

Thats the way it's all done now
waiting, clicking, beeping and loading
being creative now is all but a click away
all but a funny beep and tap on a key
all a click away
i like the old way best
i like that way much better.
