The Cobras, Hooded And Hissing Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

The Cobras, Hooded And Hissing

How do they play the wooden musical instrument
Like the bagpiper
And how do the cobras crawl
Out of the bamboo baskets
To hiss and hood
And to sway to the tune of
The haunting music
Of the East,
I mean Asia,
The Oriental music,
Melodious and haunting?

The cobras with an S sign
Or the U or V sign,
Whitish, blackly,
Yellowish and chocolate-coloured,
Hooded and hissing
And swaying
And with the tongue
Outing.
