The Church Bench Poem by Randy McClave

The Church Bench

Sit on this bench and rest
Take a moment off of your quest,
If you are weary and your feet are tired
A good rest for them might be required.
Feel the cool breeze in your hair
Talk to Jesus in a prayer,
And if your feet still does pain or hurt
Remember this, the lord never does desert.
If your load is heavy and your back feels weary
Do not feel weak or dreary,
Take a moment and rest your feet
From your journey do not runaway or retreat.
If you are tired stretch out and take a nap
If you want to put on your night cap
It's alright if you wanna sleep here on the bench
Upon it, please entrench.
Remember why this bench is here
Next to the church where there is no judgement or fear,
Sit down or lay down and then rest awhile
Here there is no judgement or payment or guile.
Sit on this bench underneath the tree
Remember this, Jesus had said come unto me,
All those who are weary and burdened
I will give rest to those tired and hurtin'.
