The Beach Poem by Julia West (julesx 64)

The Beach

Rating: 5.0

The mountain hides it's partner road from view.
The winding roads so tight,
Teasing beach views on the drive in, seagulls calling our arrival whilst in full flight.
The sand warm and inviting,
The sea blue and inticing.
The gentle waves lap up onto the shore,
The warmth of the sun invites you to enjoy more.
The gentle breeze kissing skin... some white, some tanned,
The lifeguard seated on his look-out is a muscular man.

People in groups, smiling or sleeping,
Parents eye on their children at play, they are keeping.
Ball games, laughter on the sand
To meet this way or just walk along hand in hand... making plans.
Across the sand at water's edge, Sun setting soon behind the harsh backdropp mountain ledge,
The rays are kissing and caressing the sharpness of rocky edge.

Temperature cooling and people are leaving, beach is more peaceful almost eeriely quiet, more peaceful than before,
Still the waves lap almost unseen onto the shore,
The wet sand beconing for more.
The mind drifts as wood does in the sea,
Wishing for my lover to be here with me.

Laying hand in hand... laying on a towel on the sand,
No space between bodies - feeling protected... greatly respected,
Held within my lovers gaze,
Alive together in this beautiful place,
Catching smiles upon his handsome face.

As our sun continues to set behind her mountain.....
Comfortable on our beach with soft sand and shell,
Wonderment at whether the waves are visiting for the first time? ...
Or whether they come back for more... moving forward as if in a cue?

Stillness, soon will be dark,
We must return, reluctantly to the car were we parked.
Taking memories of hours besides this beautiful beach and sea.
Hand in Hand my imaginary man and me.

There are some words in this piece that need to be examined but the work itself, is complete and whole. I would change nothing in presentation. A beautiful piece of writing.Thanks. GW62
