The Battle Of Tears Poem by Chloe Evangeline

The Battle Of Tears

Jolted
jerked out of
unconsciousness
a crumpled mind
shuddering in the streaming daylight
unfolding your thoughts
sorting,
cataloging
analyzing
painful movements
slow and measured
down a set of stairs
an unfamiliar landscape
a different house?
no, there is no house now
no climate
turning back,
there are no stairs
confusion
quickly turning to panic
searching for maybe
even a shred of truth
remembering something
anger
your mind fails you
memory seeps in blurred color
inky dark images forming
scarlett
shining metal
a bathtub
filled with...
not water
you double over
suddenly
your memory sharpens
all too late
a fog swarms
settles on you
you relax,
you have no choice now
letting the dreaded feeling overcome you
as the first bead of salted liquid
seeps down your face.
this is your fear
your immortal enemy
this dream
this lifelike dream,
only leading you to this
Sadness,
Ha, no
not the pain or suffering
but the dreaded teary
soft emotion
that threatens to send you straight over the edge.
over the edge and into the sea,
a place filled
with sadness.
laying on a ground
in a place
giving into sadness
you can only wait until the sea dries up
until you are empty of salted dew
and the continue the raging battle.
