The Awakening Poem by Robert Dummett

The Awakening

It amazes:
the love of man in song,
soul-touching and sad is daily sung.
And young lovers swear their constancy
in a fit of kisses like those budgerigars.
Youth must sing their songs;
hearts must feel the quake
when Age awakens to love's atrophy.
