The Angel's Walk Poem by Marama Kelly

The Angel's Walk

An angel from heaven was sent to the earth
to complete a mission a share of new birth
Where she was sent no one would know
except for the one from above who did glow

A beauty she was and dainty as well
her smile and her laughter would make your heart swell
she would bring joy to the ones who were sad
and fear to the ones whose hearts were bad

Into the wilderness the angel did roam
looking for love and a place to call home
a man she did find so dark and so tall
the lust that was there became her downfall

She held her head up so as not to fall down
her heart bruised and battered feeling a clown
What could she do to be free from abuse
whereever she looked she knew was no use

And then one day only remnants were left
a voice called from heaven 'come here and have rest'
so on she did journey the new journey bound
in line with the spirit now home now found

Upon her head a crown it did go
to show all the world the angels fresh glow
in mercy and love she did roam the earth
and gave to all people the release of new birth
