A Spider's Web Poem by Marama Kelly

A Spider's Web

So delicate is the spider's web
It stretches out so fine
So intricate and finely spun
In wondrous awe of design
That such a creature with eight legs
could create such a beautiful lace
Never restricted where it is
In harmony, it weaves with grace.
When the dew rests on its threads
It glistens like crystal silk
And when it captures any prey
whether edible or not
It makes them look dancing jewels
Held up in mid air
What a wondrous sight to see
A spider and its web
For some its cause for fear and dread
and for others it brings glee
