The Angel Of Joy Poem by Francis Duggan

The Angel Of Joy

A beautiful young stranger I met on the street
So lovely to look at and free of conceit
Her hair was as dark as the wing of a crow
She smiled at me with great warmth in her hello
The dark clouds of rain hung above the old town
And life's little worries were getting me down
But the angel of joy she came walking my way
And she brought some happiness into my day
My mood matched the morning the dark clouds of rain
But a woman that I never may meet again
Perhaps in her mid twenties and in her life's bloom
With a cheerful hello from me lifted the gloom
It was not her beauty that took pride of place
But the beautiful smile that she had on her face.
