The Agony Of A Barren Woman Poem by Richard Ikolo

The Agony Of A Barren Woman

For my virginity,
I got infertility.
For my chastity,
I received sterility.
Where is my reward?
Not a child as an award!
It sounds absurd!
So it happened.

Why is life unfair?
Despite all my care!
Is this my share?
Save me from despair!
I'll look unto Jehovah.
Who remembered Nehemiah,
And did it for Sarah,
And answered Hannah.

It is full of ironies and paradoxes.'For instance, one person graduates at the age of 20 and struggles for another 5 years to get a job.Another might graduate at 25 and get a job immediately. One can marry as a virgin and wait for the next decade to have the blessing of children. Another lady probably after having a series of abortions in her past, becomes a mother almost immediately after marriage. A fellow becomes an MD at 55 and lives to 90.What a life! 'observes a writer. Life is full of twists, turns, ups and downs. The woman in the poem illustrates the plight of a barren woman. However, she believes there is light at the end of the tunnel.
