That's How Things Are Poem by Lora Colon

That's How Things Are

Rating: 4.5

I've seen the darkness, I've lived with it,
I'm traveling without a star,
Some people never find the light they seek,
But that's just how things are

I saw a flame and I walked toward it,
Before I got there, it burned out,
To this day, I still don't know what it meant,
But that's what life's about

Everyone is searching for something,
Friendship, truth, blessings from above,
Remember, if you don't give, you won't get,
That's how it works with love

Each day, perform an act of kindness,
Instead of taking... try giving,
Smile and forgive, always let your light shine,
That makes life worth living

But how do you feed an emptiness.....
What can be used to fill the void?
Only when love abides in your heart
Is loneliness destroyed

Life can teach us so many lessons,
Some are sound, and some are bizarre,
Sometimes we have to make our own rules,
But that's just how things are

Very rightly you questioned here and I believe, nothing can fill the loneliness or the void inside one.
