Thanksgiving Aftermath Poem by louis rams

Thanksgiving Aftermath

Thanksgiving aftermath

Another thanksgiving has come and gone
And the leftovers linger on.

A day or two or maybe a week
So much leftovers we have to eat
But the good gathering of family and friends
Is a memorythat will not end.
The jokes, the laughter, the kids running around
And all those familiar sounds.

Uncle Bob said: " the meal couldn't be finer "
As he passed out on the recliner.
Aunt Sue said: " she had her fill "
But the desserts she's eating still.
Granny Beth talking about thanksgivings past
And how the years went so fast.

Soon they'll start their traveling all the way back home
And I'll be left here all alone
Wondering next year in what house will it be?
Your guess is as good as me! (ha-ha)
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
