Take My Hand Poem by James Harris

Take My Hand

Take my hand so I can show you such sights
Things that will awe you so you look amazed
Places of utter wonder along with great frights
Ever after you see them your eyes will be glazed

The world lies beyond your sweet simple house
Filled with such things to smell, taste and feel
It is time to stop being that scared little mouse
You have no idea of what true joys I reveal

With me you will taste a fresh sprig of mint
So simple and cool as it touches the tongue
Then over lush green hills we both sprint
Laughing like maniacs the farther we run

Clear water that sparkles in the moonlight
It daring you come closer and take a cool sip
Answer the call for it is a refreshing invite
Then cast off your gown as you go for a dip

We will go searching the dark dankest cave
What danger and fun can be lurking in there
Now just open your eyes pretend you are brave
Even though it is in utter blackness you stare

These fun things will be on the first day
So much in this world and none of it bland
Do not protest me, there is nothing to say
Just smile and nod as you take my hand
