Tagore Poem (#48) Thou Were Tuning My Heart Strings

(Jokhon tumi band-chhile-tar se-je porom, byatha)

When Thou were tuning my heart string
How awfully painful it had been
Please play again and let me forget the pain
The secrets Thou carrying so far
Now, please play in my string for me to hear

Please do not delay any longer
The light is extinguishing now
My gloom-friend Darkness waiting to hear
The songs Thou created for stars
To make ‘em twinkle their countless eyes
How soon will Thou be playing in mine?
