Tact Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Tact

There is an absence of tact.
And a lack of mental sensibility shown,
Known by those conscious and familiar...
With a pretentiousness delivered,
More to impress...
Without thought to address,
How one speaks to others.
Yet quick to disrespect.
To do this done to believe accepted.

There is an absence of tact.
And a lack of concern,
Who maybe offended by the act of this.
Or others around appalled and disgusted.
By those who may dress to impress.
Yet...
Will Loudly express,
What they have to possess.

Then...
With a looking down from upturned noses.
Not to know the ones they may offend,
Could themselves reveal...
If they chose to expose,
Their successes documented.
Without being obnoxious just to receive,
Attention to get.
Attempting to disguise,
The obviousness of childish insecurities.
That seem often to be shown,
By the ones seeking acceptance.
And out of their comfort zones!
