Sweet Dreams Poem by Paula Lubbe

Sweet Dreams

I’ve been looking at you,
You’re sleeping with the saddest look.
Aren’t you dreaming sweet?
Don’t you have new illusions to meet?

Who is it you’re craving for?
Hoping one day, he’ll knock on your door?
What fills you with this sorrow now?
That makes that crease upon your brow?

You don’t lie quite still,
Not like you used to.
Why is it that I don’t know?
And feel so distant from you?

That charming shadow,
That handsome lie.
Maybe he’ll show up tomorrow,
But for now you must just close your eyes.

Say good night, to your knight so sweet,
Say farewell until the day you meet.
And remember that you’re always loved,
Always wanted and always thought of.

Maybe I shall hear of him one day,
I’ll be hanging on every word you’d say.
But I shall have to wait for tomorrow for a reply,
So sleep sweet my dear and close your eyes.
