Survivor Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

Survivor

Survivor

Sometimes love hurts so much, pain is all that I feel.
The wounds bleed for years, as if they'd never heal.
I've moved on and found freedom, flew out of my cage.
A song may bring memories, but I just turn the page.

Time has numbed all the passion, blurred my vain dreams.
My heart's fenced with firm caution, it still beats it seems.
Doors to love are now closed, for the risk is too much,
I find I am completely immune to Cupid's touch.

There's a sense of tranquility now that I'm alone,
A strength to be me like I've never before known.
The dark years have passed and now seem very far,
I've survived my ordeal, and in my heart there's the scar.
