from 'While Passing Through'/Summer
From bogged in thought
to sound of crickets—
cool, rhythmic, soothing.
*
Even the hawk
large, cautious by the puddle
needs to drink.
*
Tree shadows
on green-gold grass—
Impressionist joy!
*
I hear them—
goldfinches calling.
Must I see them?
*
I'm out early.
Troubled mind. In distant haze—
hot-air balloons.
*
Most in shadow still
this summer dawn.
I drink the cool.
A well crafted and elegantly composed poem. A pleasing write-up that depicts the Beauty of summer solstice. Thanks for sharing Glen and do remain blessed.
thank you and thank you. even when daytime temperatures are in the 90s (farenheit) here, mornings are generally cool and the best time to walk, enjoy the fragrance of flowers, and the sound of birds. we are blessed to live surrounded by parks and many trees to support a lot of creature-life. all the best to you! -glen
