Summer Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

Summer

shriveled grasses trampled
by hurried feet. sea flat sky
drop dollops of noxious heat.
summer drops by with flame
and cinder. follows like an
astute burglar a safe winter.
flowers are afraid to bloom
and play. birds hide in bushes
beating wings to pass the day.
streams forget to reflect the
dry thickets around. and does
not flow with its lilting sound.
time to sit sweating, mourning
the past soothing nights. hearts
danced with marvelous sights.
