Stranger

Sad eyes light up when we walk in
Aged lightning blue eyes search
For the love he lost

Rich in wealth
Poor in love
Rich in misery
Poor in happiness

He watched his wife go
And he was left behind
When were they coming for him?
He prayed it would be soon

He seemed happy on the outside
But on the inside he was already gone
Lost to a life full of death and despair
Soon his body would follow his soul

To a land of numbness
Others thought he was doing so well
But truly he was screaming for solitude 16 feet under the ground
He watched as the kids play

Laughing in their youthfulness
As he remembered those days
When his beloved was young and gorgeous
Bright pale face colored with light brown freckles

Red hair blowing in the wind
Light blue dress swimming around her knees
Grass stains on her red knees
Playful eyes wildly roaming, searching

He comes back to reality
To the sad lonely place he's in
The depressing state he is in sucks him back
He is lost in it forever

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

It's very powerful. My sister often writes from the perspective of a heartbroken guy, so these types of poems are always special for me.
