Decked in floral wreaths and crown
as I lay in state among family and friends
with my spirit wading through strands forlorn
where lamps shone bright in celestial gleam
bordering a land of bliss out of mortal reach
where neither canker blights, nor flowers wilt
where sorrow never enters and all shall be blest
where each head like the sun aureoled
where God in all His glory doth reign
I saw through my slumber deep, as through a veil
my loved ones grieving great, my journey
unreturned to an untravelled land.
There was crying and whining, sighing and sobbing
in stirring memory of days in all goodness spent
and of bonds stretching beyond life's rim
which set me feel sick of where I was and where I wasn't
so fain to go, so fain to stay,
like a spinning midge,
my spirit veered high and low
between Heaven and Earth
between Mortality and Immortality.
A helium balloon buoyant in the air.
come BACK, Valsa! ! ! we'll miss youuuuuuuuu! getting late on the west coast of north america. i may return to this tomorrow, or not. but will the balloon return? ? i think those things always work their way back, and i hear some Indians believe their spirits come back as well. but not you, right? bri :)
It is one of the poems, I really love in my collection! Something different! Thank you Bri for picking it up from the discarded stuff.......! Don't worry I have come back! But now wll you, along with many, ask me to go back? Your humour is never stale, Bri! !
There are many questions that have not been replied yet, and sometimes force us to think that spirits are born again and again.
Living with family and friends we get immense joy. Floral fragrance creates nice sensation and beauty motivates mind. God is all in all. He as created beauty, nature and life on Earth. This is an excellent poem! ..5 stars.
Super poetic diction. I read your composition a couple of times. A well written poem adorned in overflowing sentiments. Gripping.10+
like a spinning midge, my spirit veered high and low between Heaven and Earth between Mortality and Immortality.A helium balloon buoyant in the air. These are the thoughts of the soul that just separated from the mortal body which is still warm. Great thought....10

It’s an amazing piece of poetry! You have revealed your poetic mind-set in a highly insightful version. There has been a conscientious self appraisal of your inner psyche so beautifully crafted…..”like a spinning midge/my spirit veered high and low/between Heaven and Earth/between Mortality and Immortality”. I love the way it is penned so gripping! (10)
