Stone-Plated Heart Poem by Michael Oluwasegun Adesiji

Stone-Plated Heart

Eyes may go bloody
Dry nostrils watery
Palms taking turns of rest
On the fore of an emotionally busy head
I may be poor at finding a man
Poorer at pleasing the populace
But, at every glance on this ring-less Finger, sorrow batters me hard
But in my downess, I've found a confidant

I have just one and I have it all;
A stone-plated heart I've got
A stone-plated heart keeps me.

I may be the subject of mockery
By the mothers of triplets
To whom I may look so dry
Like the turf of a breathless river
I may be the reason many coughs
Ends discussions at my arrival
My journey maybe somewhat tough
And even hot tears may spring
At every glance on my empty cradle
But, in my sorrow, I've found a confidant

I have just one and I have it all;
A stone-plated heart, I've got
A stone-plated heart keeps me.

I maybe the rejected stone by the builder
And it may seem like I am so worthless
To ever make at least a pleasant peeble
But, for every glance at my peers
And the skyscraping beauty they make
I feel so shattered,
But, in my isolation, I have found a confidant

I have just one and I have it all;
A stone-plated heart I've got
A stone-plated heart keeps me.

It may look as though
I am as poor as my abilities
But, for every time I row these tires
With sorrow and pains
I remember the beauty I used to be,
Especially the night in Rome
The flowers, the crowd, the dresses
The narrow walk, the shuttering sounds
The flying kisses and waves
All gone with my elegance
Since, I lost all friends to the wind
Of time, together with my spine
I have learnt to live all by myself
Since I found this loving confidant

I have just one and I have it all;
A stone-plated heart, I've got
A stone-plated heart keeps me.

Isn't it about time I draw the curtain
Against life and all its worries
Isn't it about time I find the beauty
In lifelessness and let life be
For the solacing peace my world so need

And In my soliloquy,
This loving confidant; I found.

I have just one and I have it all;
A Stone-plated heart, I've got
A stone-plated heart keeps me.
