Still The Embers Glow Poem by Tim Vallie

Still The Embers Glow

The words would have been no colder
If your tongue was made of ice
Though the wound seems nary older
It has healed over twice
The scar burrows ever deeper
Down into my heart
As the path grows ever steeper
My mind slowly falls apart
All from but one sentence
All from but one breath of air
From here no more repentance
Only darkness and despair
The words would have been no colder
If your heart was made of snow
Though this fiery heart but smolders
Yet still the embers glow
