Still In Line Poem by Richard Phiri

Still In Line

Rating: 5.0

They say men don't cry
Then does that make me less of a man
Man try telling that to my virility
I feel my own thoughts are constantly at war with me
It is said another man's head is another world so mind this is my planet
And you are welcome to take a stroll
Walk through these streets and through these walls that echo my every thought
And I thought it would be wise of you to carry your torch because it's pretty dark in here
But anyways you can always face your fears
Now here's some info
I don't mean to alarm you but the atmosphere here is a little bit tense
Gravity here is not as strong as on earth so if you don't watch it you will fall
And above all
You will need more than just oxygen to survive
To survive you need endurance, perseverance, hope and most importantly God
And i have been through it all
Do you see that bus stop over there?
Its one of a kind
A mythical one and rumor has it that the bus which stops there takes people to their destiny
And from the moment i found out what it does i have be waiting ever since
But i confess it's not easy
Because here queues don't matter the first can always be the last and with my two naked eyes have seen those who came before me get a ride
And when its my turn to do so somebody always shuts the door
In my face and i swear it hurts
These obstacles are flirting with my patience its thin am afraid it will fall and give in am holding on to a tiny thread of hope
My destiny hangs on to a rope
Fingers crossed i pray it don't snap
Too many dead ends in my pursuit make me think of giving up
But just when am about to hit the quit button am reminded that's how God builds character
Yes my faith is on a test because am feeling like Job right now though lacking the similar tenacity My life been in shambles like the aftermath of a natural disaster or calamity
These lips have kissed disapointment before i am familiar with the taste of defeat
I know what anxiety is
and the frustration of moving without knowing where you are going
And the only thing that keeps me going is the hope which comes from knowing that God is on the drivers sit
So i sit calm and allow He to take the lead
I believe one day i will catch the bus when it does stops
So yes i am still at the bus stop
in the queue, but am next in line
Now tell me do you still believe men don't cry?
If yes then you should see a man who's dreams are about to die.
