Still Poem by Michael Corrales

Still

Your musical green eyes still haunt my dreams.
Ten years have passed, not enough time it seems.
Last year I saw your picture, this year I heard your voice.
Now I long to touch you, but its not like I have a choice.

I can't comprehend my feelings or this sudden emotional burst.
Was it because I loved you? Or because you were the first?
We never had our closure. It just ended for me and you.
So many questions left answered, like was your love even true?

You dropped me like I was nothing. Did I mean anything at all?
Or was I just rebound; a fool set up to fall?
For a decade its been an obsession that replays inside my head.
It causes me to think about you as I lay there in my bed.
