A Good Thing Poem by Michael Corrales

A Good Thing

A sudden win
unexpected cheer
So here I begin
into the future I peer.

Failure is behind me
success is straight ahead.
But there are roadblocks to remind me
of the life I lived instead

Was success always in my grasp?
Was I afraid to try?
Or is this momentary lapse
of a failed life that's mine?
