Speak such soft soothing words, no crude,
Words that help lose self pride for good,
Words that keep you in cool mood,
Make others as well feel good.

Hereunder is given the original doha, a couplet by Kabeer, which when rendered in English takes all of four lines, a quatrain or more:
Aisee vani boliye, mun ka aapa khoye
Apna tan sheetal kare, auran ko sukh hoye
In Sanskrit they say: vachane kā daridratā |
What use being so miserly in words? Utter sweet words, let others feel fine,
And as bonus, you too maintain cozy cool.
Topic: words, poverty
So very true. Words.are sometimes the foundation of good relationships and unity. An insightful write Another superb quatrain.
Thanks indeed, but it seems there are not many takers of wisdom. 'We have here more poets than readers', someone had told me, and seems true. But I'll continue for a while. To translate St Kabeer in no more than four to five lines is a challenge and I'll take it. Besides, I want to put Kabeer to larger audience outside India.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
Words or tongue is very important for the place we are or will be, in the society. ... Misunderstanding or there are conditions or habits when tongue is irrespective of a processing mind, otherwise this advice one should practice. Very nice.
Thanks for your keen comments dear poet.
