Spumoni Ice-Cream Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Spumoni Ice-Cream

The colors of a springtime bouquet;
Pink, green and doe skin brown...
like the Dogwood blossoms seeking
warm sunlight… as tree tops crown

The superb colors of Spumoni ice-cream
created to make the mind stay youthful
and remember lovely layers of flavors;
Fruited Cherry, Chocolate and Pistachio

More than a wonderful Neopolitan dessert
it has the ability to recreate a passage of time
It was a favorite ending to a romantic meal
shared by newlyweds… it is absolutely divine

A memory restored in a bowl of lusciousness
I share this knowledge with my grandchildren
for a first time… about their grandparents
Introducing them to what has long since been

I notice that there is a searching in their eyes
Yes, grandma was once the age they are now
In their early twenties they marvel and relate
Something old brings light to a flavorful wow!

You have captured it so warmly and charmingly, that I'm able to have a bowl myself! Nice to meet your grandchildren too. Constance Yost
