Sprinter

Today I, sit here,
In chair of computer,
Look around, vigilant,
Am on guard like soldier.

I spy, am all set,
I follow every bird.

Think of days
With my date.

Did my best:
"Must be first."

Left some seeds,
Water in containers.

Must be sharp
To pull the trigger.

Then had love in my chest,
Let the wind in my hair,
Anxiously I waited
And waited.

And now too,
I spy in secret,
Not with gun,
No, never.

Camera has always
Been closest friend.

Have readied ASA,
Calculated shutter
For feeder's location
To catch a moving bird.

Look around anxiously
Am waiting patiently
To pull the trigger.
