Spotlight Poem by Cathy Phew

Spotlight

Suddenly the spotlights on me
am confused, breathing convusively
i want to shrink, appear diminutively
i feel defiled, violated and shy
my naked heart now running from the light
cause am exposed under the spotlight.

All my sins no longer consealed
all my feelings, now you can see
my imperfections, are no longer my own
my weakness, no longer my secret
cause am exposed under the spotlight.

Should i feign death, cause i feel afraid
I am disarmed, can't cause no harm
my blatant heart depressed though unscathed
embarrassed, disgraced yet relieved in some way
cause am exposed under the spotlight

Those who see me i ask you don't judge me
I am not a saint so don't misinterpret
but listen as i elucidate
How it feels to be, what it means to be
...when the spotlights on me.

Oh that feeling so well created here, when a private life becomes a public face. Well written my friend.
