Do re me, sings Julie Andrews,
finding with these words a band ruse,
to join into a singing band
a bunch of kids in Austrialand.
Continuing with far so la
she clearly is less la-di-da
that that rich widow whom Van Tropp
would do extremely well to drop.
Eventually, as we all know,
once she has sung the words ti do,
she’s won the children’s hearts, and ours.
The sound of music has such powers!
Although we can’t sing them as well
as Julie does, and cannot smell
the Edelweis as in the morning we
smell coffee, we can sing with glee
the sort of sounds that Julie sings,
with joy like that which Julie brings
to make the sound of music ours
to share with everyone like flowers.
Inspired by Julie Andrews’ performance in The Sound of Music.
