Sonnet-4-The Aftermath Poem by Loke Kok yee

Sonnet-4-The Aftermath

Rating: 4.5

The rain exhausted finally ceased
And the sun proudly claims back the day
Clear skies and sunshine brought back the peace
The flood reluctantly ebbs away

Life drifts back to the abandoned plains
And repair begins on shattered dreams
All affected toil without complains
Accepted as part of natures scheme

Soon some semblance of order is seen
It is back to school and work for most
Fields are ploughed and surroundings cleaned
Ere long the flood’s a forgotten ghost

Nature’s law does not consider pain or sorrow
Man has to rebuild for a better tomorrow

I had to come back for another read. Rebuilding and mending ones life after disaster is imperative yet the ache of loss of human life is irreparable. We can only carry their memory in our hearts. In the aftermath of destruction, determination to rebuild with love and beauty in mind to honor those who were lost is strengthening for the spirit.

Nature’s law does not consider pain or sorrow Man has to rebuild for a better tomorrow........yes it is. Man is powerless before nature and after havoc he has to rebuild. A meaningful sonnet wisely presented. Thanks.....10

We humans are so helpless before the indomitable might of Nature! We can only watch how Nature plays havoc. But once the fury is over, it is our duty to start rebuilding from the scratch! Great sonnet Loke! A 10
