Song To The Sun Poem by Elia Michael

Song To The Sun

We had a beautiful day of sunshine
Today, the sky was a deep shade of blue.
A golden lamp was shining from its shrine,
A ball of fire which lit all in its view.

Its rays slice through the empty black of space,
They fall upon this planet we call earth
And they sustain us, us the human race
And all creatures besides, across the earth's girth.

My Sun, with many, many ancient names,
You are the universe's crowning glory,
And those who disrespect your burning flames
Should stop to think of Ikaros's story.

Oh Sun, you are king of the universe,
Accept this homage, this unworthy verse.
