Son Of Man Poem by Brian Ben

Son Of Man

I gave you everything
Fought battles for you
Made you happy
Did you pay the son of man?

I took you to white places
Where few blacks tread
Places where birds of the air can't fly
Did you pay the son of man?

I threw up my dignity
Partied and danced all night
All, the good things of this life
Did you pay the son and of man?

Of course yes! Hundred fold you say
Called me a damn hell, a cur.
Slapped my face with shame
Called me a freak of nature
Bitterly I wept.
