Somedays Poem by Randy McClave

Somedays

I have seen all the texts and the messages
And I saw all the looks and the sighs,
I saw the ashes and the empty alcoholic beverages
I even heard all the broken promises and lies.
You removed and deleted all of my posts
That had a picture of us together, you and me,
I was proud and happy of all the cheers and toasts
But, of course with different eyes you did see.
Sometimes I would happily call you my love
And unto others I would proudly say that were my girlfriend,
Now, I don't know what I was thinking of
Unto others you called me coach, so I did pretend.
I always wanted to make you joyful and happy
And of course I wanted to be happy as well,
Unlike your other boyfriends I wasn't going to treat you awful and crappy
Or beat or abuse you or treat you like hell.
Someday I swore that I was going to marry you
Someday you would be the happiest woman ever living,
Then someday there would be nothing for you that I wouldn't do
Because that someday for you I would always be loving and giving.
That of course was my past and not the future
Unto memories and regrets I do not now wish to look on,
Of course you gave me heartbreak and many a suture
Now as I look and I think, our somedays are all almost gone.
