Solitude Poem by Susan Alldred Lugton

Solitude

My Solitude.

What is this?
This space I have found.
Not alone, just with myself.
My solitude.

The air touches my cheeks,
I fall into something
just within myself.
My solitude.

No mischievous fingers
of the other
to spoil this space.
My solitude.

No smothering here,
a freedom to breathe.
The air just for me.
My solitude.

I am not alone now.
I am with myself.
Never to be taken
from my solitude.
