Soft And Gentle Poem by Daniel Y.

Soft And Gentle

I remember, “Don’t go gentle”.
How I fought so sentimental.
How I raged and raged, enraged,
Against the dying of the light.

A time to rage, a time to fight,
“Don’t go gentle” must be right.
But after I am weak and weary,
beaten to the ground and leery,
turn away from that dark night,
and softly drift in that good light.

No longer do I rage and rage
and carry burdens of the sage.
The light, you see, it does not die.
Nor does it see with simple eye.
It does not fork, because it lasts.
And booming sound it doesn’t cast.

Soft and gentle, how you shine.
I am yours and you are mine.
Let us sit, while both are here,
and reminisce of yesteryear:
thoughts and dreams of yours and mine.
Soft and gentle, how you shine!
How I love your brilliant smile.
I was sitting all the while.
Soft and gentle, that fair light.
Soft and gentle, oh, how bright!
Soft and gentle, how you shine!
Thoughts and dreams of yours and mine.
