So Much Poem by Paul Reed

So Much

The day has settled now
From it's early enticing height
From the morning's new optimism
When the future seemed so bright;

We walked past budding daffodils
In a chilly new-born sun
Now just a golden reflection in clouds
It's labours over and done;

We queued in hope for nearly an hour
Outside a cavernous hall
But still, we were together
The most important thing of all;

Chips were eaten off a tray
Fizzy drinks drunk through a straw
A time for us to remember
When this Sunday is no more;

We have lived a life today
The blues kicked into touch
Now just the evening left to reflect
On why we love so much.
