So Far, So Near Poem by S Nadine Kjaerbaek

So Far, So Near

Rating: 5.0

Yesterday was sometimes near
Sometimes so close that light appeared
Like kaleidoscope rays across the night
And signs through the sky were my plight
Looking for shades of grey in night
Today is a day sometimes near
Like night verging on the horizon
A river that weaves itself through
The hands in my unwashed hair
The light was a sigh on my skin
So close it was too dear
So it had to go, go somewhere
Far away from here.
Yesterday is so far away from here
Down some Ventura highway, dreaming
Of a way to get back there, so far away
A cloud of dust coughed up near
Today is so far away from this moment
As she ends up on the floor, wanting to get away from here.
So far, so close, so dire, so near.
I want to get away from here, away, from here.
