Sleepy Weather Poem by Smoky Hoss

Sleepy Weather

Rating: 5.0

My dog lay asleep by the window
lost in dreams of drizzle,
I pat her head
and watch the rain descend.

Cold November blows
October forever away,
and here am I, a melancholy warm
sitting with my faithful old friend.

The wind wails
a mournful tune,
a song sung sad
when the sky comes weeping.

The fireplace aglow
holds the heart at home,
as simply contented
I and my old dog, together, lay sleeping.

Omg smoky.. this caught me off guard.... end of the second stanza, i had to take a breath and compose myself as i was in tears, not just for my lovely staff mix lost jan 21st last year but because i so remember that beautiful complacence and comfort sat with my dog and lets face it humans never make you feel quite as at home in our own shells as one wet nosed adoring dog...dreams of drizzle... harmony in words....i love palo narudas a dog has died and never expected to be that affected by words again but i was and have read this many times and cannot get past second stanza without the floodgates bursting...cold november blows october forever away...... i am really astounded by this piece, i even sat here shaking my head at the sheer beauty of these words.....i can honestly say this is exactly the type of write i read for. a little gem, rare and exuding something exceptional; .... i shall stop raving now and please excuse my enthusiasm but i adore this totally....one last thing.... i wish i had wrote this :)
