Sleeping With The Enemy Poem by Aminath Neena

Sleeping With The Enemy

A facade of solitary bliss
through a beaming smile
was her placard of anguish

where pain resonated
gushing in between the fibrous tissue
as a flowing glacier that evaporated

through the ventricles
reverberating the psychotic laughter
smudging the walls in scarlet tentacles

eroding the surface shape
to assist in injecting the sugary venom
and as repulsive memories escape

reminiscing the times twin buds had to swallow
the poison- while nestled within the chalice
of the drunken enemy… sharing a pillow

dispatching the cancerous roots
of slime and molten lava-
And although their disgusting fruits

are long forgotten and lacerated
With the talons of the mundane time
And the organ has been castrated

to implant the effulgent beams
for a new life where hope grows a flower
in the graveyard of broken dreams-

the scars still bleed from time to time and remain
wishful remnants of a broken vase
a secret within the chambered domain

and to the outside world all the while
she was just another normal everyday face
topped with a dazzling glorious smile
