Bleeding Heart Poem by Aminath Neena

Bleeding Heart

Demons of my past drag me back
Into a deep isolated well in the ruins
Bleeding heart
claiming pervert

Deeper and deeper I fell into the bottomless pit
Filled with the scurrilous monsters
Disheveled hopes
Disoriented bones

Their foul breath against my face
Grotesque arms slithered on my body
Trampled mud
Crimson blood

Rapacious monsters demanded subjugation
While my soul cried out for renewal
Trembling lips
Shriveled limbs

A light was shining in the distance
Little veins in my heart longed to reach it
Dissolute fires
Solemn desires

The agony castigated my inner being
While the enemy soared in triumph
Dispatched screams
Tangled dreams

Faraway the light glowed and beckoned me
Slowly once more a futile attempt
Howling winds
Broken wings

The light flickered for a second
My eyes opened heavenward
Haunted castles
Fallen angels

A stifled moan escaped my throat
Silence engulfed the horrendous night
Deceptive disdain
Endless pain
