Sleeping On The Couch Poem by Randy McClave

Sleeping On The Couch

Tonight I'll enjoy sharing my bed with her
Especially when's it's cold and I go burr,
And I will enjoy it when her head is on my chest
Then in peace we will both happily rest.
Tonight I'll like it when we snuggle together
Especially in bad and/ or stormy weather,
And while there's thundering or hard raining in the night
Next to me in our bed I will hold her tight.
Then when I hear her loudly snore
Pushes or shouts I will never deplore,
I will just carefully and gently turn her on her side
I treat her with delicacy and with much love and pride.
When she's had a rough day I will massage her back
As she lays relaxed in the sack,
And I will gently run my fingers through her hair
And I will do it lovingly and gently with much care.
On our bed there is always clean sheets
Into our bed my love always happily greets,
And if she ever talks in her sleep
I cover my ears, so other names won't cause me to weep.
If in our bed if she ever feels Ill or is getting sick
Out of our bed, she I will never boot or reject or kick,
And if she's ever angry or just feeling out of place
Then in our bed, I will just then give her, her space.
But, now that she's started her menopause
I'm just waiting while knowing any moment for her claws,
And then when she is hateful and becomes a grouch
"Tonight"! I say to her, "I will be sleeping on the couch".
