Sleep Poem by Anupama Anpat

Sleep

Sitting gently on the eyes,
impartial to young and the wise,
it brings rest and peace,
obliging the bearer to beseech.

Unravelling the realm of dreams,
transcending across the seams.
Connecting past and the present,
a spell so sketchy and incessant.

Revealing the world, unknown,
setting the bearer’s vibe and tone.
A space for God to connect with the soul,
blessing and consenting it, to be a whole.

Moving back to the reality of time,
for a little more, the bearer pines.
Quietly the pearls of sleep scatter away,
it will return when eyes lids begin to sway.

Sleep brings calm and relief,
from facts, fantasy it sieves.
A mesmeric interlude, a hopeful ray,
from sleep, awakes a new day.
