Slay Queen Poem by Young Church Poetry

Slay Queen

Rating: 5.0

I hope you won't feel
Like you have slayed
Your life when you are
All grown and forty years

What's the point of living
Only a quarter of life?

I hope you won't feel
Like those queening
Days lasted for seconds
Early in your thirties

Have you ever thought that peace
Of mind is a lifetime adventure?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Slay Queens in Southern Africa are the young girls who live for parties and clubs. They are more like prostitutes, they wear revealing clothes to attract men and attention. Their source of income are rich men and they would do anything for their money.

(cont.) .. WHAT is forty years? the person's age? and how many years would be a quarter? and WHAT are queening days? the last two lines are very interesting; perhaps you could expand on them? from Google: Maseru is the capital city of Lesotho, a landlocked country encircled by South Africa...i've heard of Lesotho, but i did not know it was a separate country! You asked me obvious questions Bri, anyway check out the notes just for you and people who might wonder what a Slay Queen is.

for me, and i'm PRETTY SURE for some others, this needs some clarification, which COULD BE DONE in a Poet's Notes, BUT i prefer to not NEED a poet's 'notes' to understand a poem! what do YOU mean by slayed? ? ? i have some ideas, but you may tell me in a message. IF you just answer by responding on this page, i probably will not see your response! AND.. (cont.)

Bri Edwards I will put notes for you and define a Slay Queen. I am sure you also don't know what a Slay Queen is, so I will try to define her as little as I can so that I don't spoil my work.
