Single Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Single

Single

In that town, once city…
-killed by fight and the wind
-and sun, moon, hurricane
-new guest, false angel
-wolf turned lamb to shepherd
-life became some mirage
-enforced in hermitage
-lives lonely single man

His skin is doormat
-a shirt is what he has
-it's always on his back
-or in sink or in sun
-mistress it becomes in breeze
-he joins her and they dance

He recalls days gone-by
-he could see all creeds
-city had pubs and bars
-discos were safe and nice
-plenty restaurants
-servers, girls and ladies…

Warm smiles and good tips
-guests came in limousines

Died sky of oneness
-lines came and divided
-new gifts were borders
-for Tajik and Uzbek, Turkmen
-some stayed, some parted
-siblings and parents
-with the wall arrived hell
-Rahmanov, Islamov and others
-came after Gorbachev…
-theft, looting, even rails
-kicks, bribes, tanks, planes
-deaths, murders, mass graves
-replaced the old cars, bikes
-faiths, efforts and dislikes
-and living became tough
