Sin Of Omission Poem by Parker Perrella

Sin Of Omission

I know what I ought to do
But I don't do it.
I know I ought to get up and serve you
But I don't follow through with it,
Oh God,
What a wretched sinner I am.
The sin of omission bangs at the door
And I let him in
Again...
And again...
And again...
I know I have disobeyed,
Now it's time again for confession-
When will this vicious cycle ever end?
I grieve over my sin-
For I have sinned against you-
Most Holy God,
Yet your grace is still sufficient.
How can it be, God?
How can it be that I am forgiven?
I fall to my knees,
For the spotless Son of God was pierced for my transgressions-
The full wrath of God poured out on Him-
Oh such mercy!
I tremble at the foot of the cross-
And the blood of the Lamb washes over me,
I bathe in the fountain of life-
I cleanse my hands in redeeming love-
My heart restored to purity-
Oh such grace that has been poured out on me!
I give you praise, for you are worthy!
