Psalm 10 Poem by Parker Perrella

Psalm 10

Lord, why do you stand so far from me?
The fiery furnace is flaming-
I am burning in its fierce intensity,
Longing for some sort of relief-
But you seem to hide your face from me.
The wicked pursue me relentlessly,
Out of pride they act in cruelty,
In all of their evil scheming
They doubt the All-Powerful, the All-Seeing.
Oh, how these men who persecute me
Doubt the omniscience of our Heavenly King!
From Divine oversight there is no hiding,
And from Divine justice there is no fleeing.*
Oh God, vindicate me!
I commit myself unto thee,
Resigning my will to thine holy supremacy.
God, please do not go far from me,
As you are refining your masterpiece,
Keep the mouth of the furnace in close proximity,
Jesus, walk amidst the flames with me**
When I am cast into the heat
So my faith may be proven with authenticity***
And that I may come out unscathed
In holy, precious purity,
And Jesus Christ shall receive
All of the praise, honor and glory.
