Psalm 7 Poem by Parker Perrella

Psalm 7

O Lord my God,
My faithful shepherd,
Save me from my adversary,
Who prowls around like a lion,
Seeking prey to devour-*
I am defenseless and innocent-
Rescue me, my God,
My refuge and my shelter.

Rise up on your seat of judgment,
Exalt yourself above the fury of my enemies,
Awaken-
Though you never slumber,
Yet silence is the patience of longsuffering,
For the saints are trodden in the dust,
And the wicked are prevailing.

Lord, I come before your heavenly courts-
Judge your people with justice-
Vindicate me, O God,
Let wickedness come to an end
But establish the righteous.
Hear my cause,
Clear the guiltless,
And judge the treacherous,
For when the Lord shall try their cause,
Their sun is set in darkness.
They build for themselves a fiery prison,
And their pleasure is their destruction,
But we rejoice in glorious hope
For our Sun is eternally risen!
