silenced

nice is not necessarily a good thing
it is an insult
to call someone so
to appease them
so desired deeds
flower from recalcitrant hands
as pillows of armor
guard the heart against
screams bursting inside
suffocated souls
silencing them
with a finger to the mouth
uttering "sh..."
